The Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2025 was built on a simple premise: recognising achievement is most powerful when it also brings the sector together. Held on 7 May 2025 at the Crowne Plaza, Santry, the gala ceremony gathered manufacturers, academics, and industry leaders around a shared ambition to raise standards across Irish manufacturing.
The room reflected the breadth of the sector. Shortlisted entrants spanned pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food and beverages, wood products, architectural glass, refrigeration, and industrial automation, from family-owned businesses marking decades in operation to global multinationals running large-scale European networks. Names such as Astellas Ireland, Perrigo, Merck, Haleon, Dawn Meats, Carey Glass, and B. Braun appeared across the shortlist, alongside smaller manufacturers competing in the small and medium business categories.
That mix mattered. Few forums put a timber frame producer, a pharmaceutical plant, and a bakery supplying export markets in the same conversation. Yet the challenges they described overlapped: energy costs, workforce retention, supply chain visibility, and the pressure to adopt digital tools without losing operational discipline. For finalists, the awards offered a chance to compare approaches with peers facing the same pressures from different angles.
The independent judging panel added another layer of connection. Drawn from state, academic, and private sectors, it brought together voices such as John Cosgrove of Technological University Shannon, Guangbo Hao of University College Cork, Barry Cox of the National Standards Authority of Ireland, and Rocco Lupoi of Trinity College Dublin. Their involvement linked industry practice with research and standards expertise, and the Irish Manufacturing Council joined as Strategic Partner to reinforce those ties.
For those recognised, the benefits extended beyond the evening. Shortlisted entrants raised their national profiles simply by reaching the final, while winners earned national coverage, giving manufacturers a platform to share best practice and attract new partners, customers, and talent.
