Wilo Ireland has appointed Richard Swinburne as its new Managing Director, signalling a stronger push into data centres, water management and energy efficient HVAC solutions across residential and commercial markets. With more than two decades of experience spanning utilities, HVAC and industrial operations, Swinburne brings deep technical and operational expertise, most recently serving as Managing Director of Xylem Water Solutions Ireland.
His mandate is clear. Swinburne aims to expand the business by leveraging Wilo’s global platform while elevating sustainability standards across Irish building services and water infrastructure. He highlighted Wilo’s four EcoVadis platinum sustainability ratings and its climate neutral European factories as major motivators for joining, calling them evidence of a long term commitment to environmentally conscious engineering.
Ireland’s energy and water systems are at a pivotal moment, with rising electricity demand placing pressure on national supply. Against this backdrop, Swinburne plans to prioritise energy efficiency for commercial users. Wilo Ireland will focus on energy audits, identification of legacy inefficient pumps and deployment of modern retrofittable systems that reduce operational costs and strain on national grids.
Water management upgrades will also be central to his agenda. Drawing on the recent launch of Wilo UK’s full water treatment package, Swinburne intends to strengthen support for Irish water utilities as they advance infrastructure renewal programmes.
Wilo UK Managing Director Lee Tebbatt welcomed the appointment, noting that Swinburne’s leadership, sector experience and sustainability focus align closely with Wilo’s core mission and will play an important role in accelerating the company’s growth trajectory in Ireland.
