Essex-based air purification systems manufacturer Airbench Limited has been acquired by Amplex AB, a corporate group headquartered in Sweden, in a deal that brings a specialist UK manufacturer into a growing European industrial filters and air purification group. Business Sale Report reported on the transaction, confirmed on 10 March 2026.

Founded in 1993 under the name WorkPoint Environments, Airbench manufactures and sells a range of products used to capture, contain, and filter dust and fumes from working environments, including cross-draught systems, downdraught benches, coolant mist filters, and air cleaning systems.

The company manufactures all of its products in-house at its Colchester facility and also operates a metal workshop in Tollesbury, Essex. It reportedly generates turnover of around £6.5 million (€7.8 million) and employs 23 staff.

In accounts for the year to 30 September 2024, Airbench Limited's fixed assets were valued at around £174,000 (€208,000), current assets at approximately £4.2 million (€5 million), and net assets at nearly £3.3 million (€3.9 million).

Managing director Simon Cook will continue to lead the business following the acquisition. Cook said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to grow and develop within a larger group that strongly believes in the power of good business acumen. We look forward to benefiting from Amplex's experience, tools and network to further improve our products and services."
