South Korea-based Samsung Electronics has announced a strategy to transition all of its global manufacturing operations into AI-driven factories by 2030, deploying autonomous agents, digital twin simulations and purpose-built robotics across its production network, according to a press release published 1 March.

The initiative will integrate artificial intelligence across the full manufacturing value chain, from inbound material logistics and production through to quality inspection and final shipment. Samsung will deploy specialised AI agents dedicated to quality control, production management and logistics coordination, supported by digital twin-based simulations throughout its manufacturing processes.

Central to the transformation is Agentic AI, first introduced on the Galaxy S26 series, which autonomously plans, executes and optimises decisions to achieve defined objectives. Samsung is extending capabilities developed in its mobile division into its manufacturing operations to establish autonomous production environments globally.

AI integration will also extend into environmental, health and safety functions, with proactive hazard detection and automated prevention systems deployed to strengthen workplace safety across facilities worldwide.

Samsung is progressively introducing humanoid and task-specialised robotics across production lines, including operating robots for line management, logistics robots for autonomous material handling and assembly robots for precision tasks. In hazardous or restricted environments, digital twin-integrated safety robots will monitor conditions and mitigate on-site risks.
