Leviat has officially opened its new manufacturing facility at The Airfields in Deeside, North Wales, giving construction product customers a single, purpose-built production base, with scope for further investment in automation as the business rebalances UK manufacturing and distribution.

The 104,000 sq ft facility, Leviat's first purpose-built manufacturing site in Wales, becomes the sole production site for the full Helifix range and manufactures Ancon products for the high-rise residential sector; it also serves as the UK despatch hub for Halfen products, following the transfer of warehousing from Dunstable.

The site builds on more than 40 years of manufacturing heritage in North Wales, with roots tracing back to Leviat's first regional factory in Flint in 1984, continuing the company's history of investing in manufacturing technology and product innovation, including recent flexible wall tie technology now brought directly into production.

Rune Magnusson, managing director of Leviat UK and Ireland, said the factory represents far more than a new building, describing it as an investment in the company's people and in the region's future. He said North Wales has been part of Leviat's story since 1984, and called it a significant step in how the company manufactures and supplies customers by bringing Helifix, Ancon and Halfen operations closer together under one roof.

Leviat, a CRH company, is a global leader in connecting, fixing, lifting and anchoring technology for the construction industry, employing around 3,000 people at 60 locations across North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia; CRH, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and New York, is a global building materials group.

The consolidation reflects a wider pattern of construction product manufacturers merging fragmented legacy sites into single, purpose-built facilities to improve responsiveness and create a platform for automation investment, rather than operating dispersed production across multiple ageing plants.

The timing aligns with sustained specification-led growth in UK structural fixings, with the construction anchor market projected to reach $814.96m by 2036 as the Building Safety Act 2022 reshapes procurement standards for high-rise residential projects, the segment Ancon products are built for.

For the sector, Deeside's rebalancing of manufacturing and distribution across Leviat's wider UK network illustrates how larger building materials groups are restructuring plant networks site-by-site rather than through one-off capital projects.
