Ireland has launched its ambitious Silicon Island strategy to establish itself as a global semiconductor powerhouse. Backed by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the plan will combine national R&D support with participation in the EU Chips Act to attract multinationals and scale local start-ups.
IDA Ireland, the country’s inward investment agency, will play a central role in driving cross-sector collaboration and expanding Ireland’s semiconductor footprint. The strategy focuses on boosting skills, infrastructure, and innovation to position Ireland at the forefront of next-gen chip design and manufacturing.
