Japan-based automotive manufacturer Honda has completed the merger of Honda Philippines Inc. and Honda Parts Manufacturing Corp. following approval from the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission on 11 February, according to a Manila Times report.
Honda Philippines Inc. is the surviving entity following the consolidation, which brings vehicle assembly and parts manufacturing operations together under a single organisation for the first time. The merger is intended to improve operational efficiency, strengthen manufacturing flexibility and enhance the company's capacity to respond to growing demand for motorcycles and power products in the Philippine market.
The integration also reinforces Honda's relationships with local suppliers, partners and institutions across the country, and is positioned to maintain quality and consistency standards across its product range.
Takeshi Kobayashi, president of Honda Philippines Inc., said: "This merger is an important step in building a stronger Honda organization in the Philippines. By unifying our manufacturing and parts operations, we are strengthening our ability to operate more efficiently while continuing to contribute to Philippine society."
The merger reflects Honda's broader long-term strategy to strengthen its manufacturing base in the Philippines, where the company has maintained a commercial presence for several decades. Honda Philippines Inc. and Honda Parts Manufacturing Corp. had previously operated as separate legal entities with distinct manufacturing responsibilities across the company's Philippine production network.
No financial terms were disclosed in connection with the merger. Honda said the unified organisation would continue operating across its existing facilities while pursuing further efficiency gains and capacity improvements aligned with market demand forecasts.
